The Breaking the Silence (BTS) course is about recognising, understanding and preventing abuse within the church.
It’s aim is to protect all vulnerable people (not just children), and also to protect you as a ministry worker.
It establishes a Code of Conduct to which you will be held accountable.

The BTS is to be completed before you commence in your role. It is then to be re-done every three years. If you have done it in the past, you will get a reminder about when it is next due to be done.

The ideal way to do the course is in a group setting where you can have discussions and ask questions. However, as it is a requirement to complete this course before you commence your ministry role, doing it online may be your only option. If, as you work through the material you do have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask the minister.

There is a workbook that goes with the course. You can get a copy from the church office.

This is the link to the course.
You can work through the material at your own pace. There is a quiz to complete at the end.

Once you have submitted the quiz, both you and St James should receive notification about completion of the course.
