We have a vibrant age appropriate children’s ministry.

Our vision is that children know Jesus, grow in their Christian walk as they understand God’s word and that they may be able to joyfully share the love of God with others.

It is our desire that our children may be transformed by the joy of knowing their forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ.

We believe God commands parents to actively and intentionally shape the character of their children and help form their faith. For this reason, we seek to encourage and equip parents to disciple their children throughout the week.

We take your children’s safety very seriously.

Children are encouraged in a caring and safe environment by volunteers. Every person involved in any way with children at our church has received a Working With Children Check number. They must also complete our Breaking the Silence training and have been verified and approved by our church offices in Sydney.

Preschoolers.

Each week, we teach age-appropriate Biblical narratives to our preschoolers highlighting one of our Five Foundational Truths:

God Made Everything

God Is in Charge of Everything

God Is Good

Jesus Came to Save Sinners

God Wants to Talk With Us.

K-5.

Our K-5 Sunday school program is based on ‘The Praise Factory’ curriculum. The Praise Factory is a six-year, children’s systematic theology curriculum for children in K-5. It is comprised of 104 key biblical truths called “Big Ideas”, these are divided into 16 units, common to a systematic theology. We have adapted this very comprehensive curriculum to suit our 30-40 minute time frame

Each week there are also different activities including games and craft to reinforce the Big Idea concept and story.

You can check out the Praise Factory curriculum in its entirety at: www.praisefactory.org

Inter-generational emphasis.

At Orange Presbyterian Church we think it is crucial that children feel valued and included as members of our congregation. Below are some regular activities to help children and adults connect with each other.

VIPP: Each week as part of Sunday School the children interview one of the adult members of the congregation. We call these our ‘Very Important Prayer Person’ (VIPP). It is a great opportunity for the children to hear how the God of history is still at work in the lives of people today.

Prayer Buddies: Every 6 weeks we set apart a time in our hall for pairs or triplets of children to meet with an adult ‘Prayer Buddy’. Each person shares prayer requests and praise points and then pray together. It not only gives adults an opportunity to nurture and disciple children, but it also gives the children an opportunity to pray for and encourage an adult.

Children’s talk: Every Sunday morning service we include a fun and engaging children’s talk.

Dads and kids camp: Each year we hold a dads and their kids camp. It is a wonderful opportunity for fathers and kids to interact and get to know other families around the campfire other outdoor activities.

Church family camp: Each year we also hold a church camp where we encourage everyone to come away for a weekend at Ridgecrest campsite. Highlights include challenging guest speakers, family fun night, kids and youth programs, lots of fun activities, and the camp food is the best bar none!
