We have a vibrant age-appropriate children’s ministry.

Our vision is that children know Jesus, grow in their Christian walk as they understand God’s word and that they may be able to joyfully share the love of God with others.

It is our desire that our children may be transformed by the joy of knowing their forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ.

We believe God commands parents to actively and intentionally shape the character of their children and help form their faith. For this reason, we seek to encourage and equip parents to disciple their children throughout the week.

We take your children’s safety very seriously.

Children are encouraged in a caring and safe environment by volunteers. Every person involved in any way with children at our church has received a Working With Children Check number. They must also complete our Breaking the Silence training and have been verified and approved by our church offices in Sydney.

Each week, we teach age-appropriate Biblical narratives to our preschoolers highlighting one of our Five Foundational Truths:

God Made Everything

God Is in Charge of Everything

God Is Good

Jesus Came to Save Sinners

God Wants to Talk With Us.

Our K-5 Sunday school uses a 3-year curriculum which covers stories and topics from the whole Bible. Each year we explore our way from the beginning to the end of the Bible. Children will have a thorough knowledge of the big picture of the Bible by the time they finish their time at Sunday School.

Each week there are also different activities including games and craft to reinforce the big idea and story.

Our curriculum is based on the structure of the Crossroads Kids Club material. You can check out some of the resources at www.crossroadskidsclub.net

Inter-generational emphasis

At Orange Presbyterian Church we think it is crucial that children feel valued and included as members of our congregation. Below are some regular activities to help children and adults connect with each other.

VIPP: Each week as part of Sunday School the children interview one of the adult members of the congregation. We call these our ‘Very Important Prayer Person’ (VIPP). It is a great opportunity for the children to hear how the God of history is still at work in the lives of people today.

Prayer Buddies: Every 6 weeks we set apart a time in our hall for pairs or triplets of children to meet with an adult ‘Prayer Buddy’. Each person shares prayer requests and praise points and then pray together. It not only gives adults an opportunity to nurture and disciple children, but it also gives the children an opportunity to pray for and encourage an adult.

Youth at Sunday school: Once a term we invite our youth group (JPY) to come in and lead our Sunday school on Sunday morning. This provides the youth with an opportunity to serve and develop leadership and children’s ministry skills.

Children’s talk: Every Sunday morning service we include a fun and engaging children’s talk.

Holiday Kids’ Club: Every September we hold a holiday kids club. The kids club is usually themed and includes Bible stories, games, craft, food, music, puppets and drama.

Dads and kids camp: Each year we hold a dads and their kids camp. It is a wonderful opportunity for fathers and kids to interact and get to know other families around the campfire other outdoor activities.

Church family camp: Each year we also hold a church camp where we encourage everyone to come away for a weekend at Ridgecrest campsite. Highlights include challenging guest speakers, family fun night, kids and youth programs, lots of fun activities, and the camp food is the best bar none!
